What matters most: Benefits of early referral
It has been said to enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realize that those were the big things.
AMOREM realizes that every moment matters. AMOREM’s mission-driven approach to care improves quality of life and helps make more time for the important things—what matters most. Families said that AMOREM improved quality of life for the patient and their family according to the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) surveys. In fact, AMOREM scored above the national average.
A recent study by Teleios Collaborative Network which utilized data from National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI) and The John A. Hartford Foundation on What Baby Boomers Want in End-of-Life Care shows that they want “to live better longer”. This emphasizes that quality of life is a significant desire for today’s aging adults.
At AMOREM, hospice and palliative medicine focus on supporting the whole person—body, mind and spirit. The organization’s care teams focus on caring for each patient as a unique individual, delivering care that respects their wishes and values while guiding and supporting families and loved ones every step of the way.
Every day, AMOREM works with medical providers to improve quality of life for patients and families living with a serious illness or a terminal diagnosis. Frequently, these families tell us they wish they had called sooner.
Research by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization shows that to receive optimal multi-dimensional end-of-life care, patients should receive a minimum of 90 days in hospice care; although patients are eligible for 180 days or more.
Experts in hospice care agree:
- that patients need to be enrolled for at least 90 days to take advantage of the full benefits of a hospice program.
- that hospice care is most effective over a period of months, even though the median length of service has decreased over the years.
- that by providing hospice care sooner, a provider can continue to make positive changes in the lives of their patients.
AMOREM is committed to their mission to provide quality, thoughtful, loving care to patients and their families, improving quality of life and making more time for the important things—like another baseball game with your dad or a simple conversation about nothing…that means everything.
